Ferdinand T. Mendiola - March 2007

Ferdinand T. Mendiola was the Champion in the Novice class of Musclemania 2006 North Luzon Tour. An upcoming and dedicated athlete, Ferdinand strives to be the best in his field. No wonder he came out top in his first competition.

PM: Where were you born and raised?

FM: I was born and raised in Dolores, Mabalacat, Pampanga which is the next town to Angeles City, Pampanga.

PM: How did you get started in Bodybuilding?

FM: Well, I used to be very skinny like around 110 lbs. all throughout my teenage years and up to my early twenties. I wanted to gain some weight so I would look better but I didn’t know how. I finally joined the PRO Health Gym. I worked out everyday and added more foods in my diet. I started getting results and felt better. I decided to keep doing this and it became part of my daily routine.

PM: How did you get into competition?

FM: I was very motivated with the gains I’m making in the gym so I thought I would take it up to another level. I heard of a few competitions around Angeles City and especially of the Musclemania Tour. I decided to prepare for this.

PM: How did you prepare for Musclemania?

FM: Two months before the competition I was already preparing for the show. I had difficulty at first but as I got used to the diet and training, it felt better. I started eating less rice, more egg whites and other high protein foods. I included jogging and other cardiovascular exercises to my training. But I kept the training on heavy weights.

PM: What is your best body part and your weakest?

FM: I think my best body parts are my arms and chest. I also think it is because of genetics. I’m working on my abs for more cuts. I think that with a more proper diet, I will achieve that.

PM: When do you usually train?

FM: I usually train in the evenings. During the day I work as a personal trainer and a gym instructor so I have more time after work. Then at night I work as a bouncer in one of the local bars around here in Angeles City, Pampanga.

PM: What do you see yourself doing in bodybuilding in the next few years?

FM: Now that I’m hooked up in this lifestyle, I will keep competing until I reach my goal in the Nationals or RP team.

So there he is. Ferdinand is someone to watch out for. He is really one hungry competitor. We think he will make it to the Nationals in the future with his drive, determination and discipline in the sport.
