Vorrman “Mandy“ A. Ting - February 2006

Vorrman Ting has always been dedicated to the sport of bodybuilding.

Determined and discipline-driven, he recently won the title of Mr. San Fernando, La Union held last January 29, 2006. If there ever is an athlete who should get the title for the 3-Ds in weight training and nutrition, Vorrman is the guy to beat.

"Mandy", the name everybody knows him by, started weight training even when he was in high school in 1991. He was already medium built at 140 lbs. then. He joined the Fiqueta Novice Powerlifting Competition at the Chines Cultural High School and won the gold 2 years in a row. He went on to join the bodybuilders dance entertainment group called the Star Bodybuilder under Venson Ang's management.

He joined his first competition at the Ironman 2002 and won the novice division. Mandy has experimented with his diet and nutrition program throughout his career in bodybuilding. He recently included peanuts fried in non-fat oil as a source of protein in his diet. He eats corn silk (corn hair) as diuretics during pre-contest planning. He believes distilled water is not necessary in depleting water from your system. As long as your diet consist of low sodium, you can drink as much water as you want even tap water. Your body will flush it out naturally and will have no water retention. The low sodium diet will take care of the striation and the "cut" look. Low carbs can be obtained by eating oatmeal, oranges, ponkan, dalandan, suha or grapefruit, pears, apple and banana depending on the amount you eat. He is one to gladly share his diet secret with anyone who is seriously wanting to get into competition. He believes proper diet is 70% in the overall competition package and training is 30%.

His training is always heavy and intense. The more intense the longer the resting period is required. Mandy is proud to have a good set of 6-pack abs. He's been known to have such intense training for his abs so his colleagues call it the "Mandy's Abs".

Mandy is currently a personal trainer and a gym instructor at the Biometrix Fitness Gym at the YMCA Bldg. Manila located on Arroceros Street by the SM Mall Manila, telephone no. (02) 484-3176. Manager Raymond Aramburo is proud to have him as part of the staff because he helps motivate the novice as well as the advance trainees. The gym enthusiasts consist of 30% women. It has a big aerobics/dance floor. The owners are opening up another gym on Legarda St., Quiapo, Manila "Body Buff Gym". Mandy is looking forward to working over there part time.

During competition he believes posing correctly under the white lights instead of yellow lights is best to show off what you've trained for. Mandy's goal is to compete internationally and make a name for himself and for his country. We believe that's not too far off! Congratulations for a job well done!
