We seldom hear of someone turning his life around because of bodybuilding. Ferdinand Bancoro is one who can testify to this.

Ferdinand is a native of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte Province on the southern island of Mindanao. He is fairly new to bodybuilding. He only started training with weights in 2001. Before starting his career in bodybuilding, Ferdinand went to work as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) in Taiwan working in a computer chip factory. He got involved heavily with drugs. He almost lost everything and almost cost him his life. He came back home to the Philippines desperately wanting to change for the better.

He joined a gym and focused on working out. He trained hard and joined a few amateur competitions around his area. The competition bug bit him. On his own, he was able to recover and stay drug-free. He now eats healthy foods, no smoking and no drinking. He owes his new life to bodybuilding. "The discipline and determination to change and turn your life around is all up to you," says Ferdinand. "Bodybuilding is only a tool you can use to get you started and hopefully maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle." He continues.

Ferdinand starts his pre-contest diet 3 months before a competition. His last competition was the Mr. Philippines in Iloilo September, 2004 where he placed in the Top 5 in the Short Division. He plans to stay off-season for awhile and train heavy to gain more muscle mass and then trim down to a higher weight class than his last show. His goal is to win the Mr. Philippines in his weight category in the next couple of years.

Ferdinand has a great potential in the world of bodybuilding. He's young and is determined to give it all. He has a symmetrical physique and always wins the audience's and judge's vote to give him the Best Poser Award. He has a posing routine nobody else can do.
